Mª Luísa Ramalho has completed her MSc in Marine Ecology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon in Portugal, where she studied the “Comparative feeding behaviour of early larvae of sardine Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792) and anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus (Linnaeus, 1758)”. She has worked as a trainee at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, concerning a few species of microalgae, diatoms and dinoflagellates, with the purpose of studying their optical properties.
She is a visiting scholar (ERASMUS Program) in the EPAQ Laboratory in the School of Life Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. Her research investigates the impacts of micro and nano plastics in zebrafish, and contributes to the overall program on the effects of plastics in the environment.
