Positions available

Below are position descriptions for which we are actively seeking candidates.

Visiting Scholars (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh): I regularly accept visiting scholars and visiting professors that wish to work in research areas that are consistent with the overall direction of the laboratory.  These appointments vary in duration and salary support is provided by the visitor or their home institution.

Postdoctoral Research Associates (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh; and The University of Tennessee): All of my funded Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are currently filled; however, I will consider additional opportunities to develop proposals to obtain support for new appointments to work in research areas that are consistent with the overall direction of the laboratory

PhD Studentships (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh): All of my funded PhD studentships are currently filled; however, I will consider additional self-funded students or opportunities to develop proposals to obtain support for new students to work in research areas that are consistent with the overall direction of the laboratory.

MSc Students (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh): We typically direct up to four new MSc students each year working in research areas of the EPAQ Laboratory.  A list of new project topic areas will be available here, and titles and outcomes of some recent projects are indicated here.

Undergraduate research assistants (NSF Fish Nanotoxicology project, UTK): The NSF CBET nanotoxicology project supports various undergraduate research assistants to engage in components of this research with potential to develop separate parallel undergraduate research projects.

Undergraduate research assistants (Zebrafish Research Facility UTK): The UTK Zebrafish Research Facility employs several undergraduate research assistants to maintain fish husbandry and conduct various tasks associated with research projects involving zebrafish.

Undergraduate research assistants (Zebrafish Research Facility HWU): There are opportunities for undergraduate research assistants to engage in independent research projects in the laboratory either on a voluntary basis or with funding from various sources.  We have previously obtained funding from the Carnegie Trust, Nuffield Foundation, Welcome Trust, and Medical Research Scotland to support undergraduate research projects.
